Songwriting

Across the Salt and Light family of churches there are worship songs which have yet to be sung, songs which remain in the hearts and minds of individuals. New songs are part of the fruit of the Holy Spirit's activity in our lives and churches. For this reason we want to encourage and equip songwriters within our churches...

the plan...
We plan to regularly produce a new songs resource pack which will include:

• a CD of new songs.
• musical notation for each song, with melody and chords.
• distribution of the package to Salt and Light churches as a resource.

your involvement...

We want to invite you to write a song!

• send in a copy of the lyrics (and music/chords if possible)
• send in a recording of your song
• give us permission to:
    (1) re-record the new song onto the worship resource CD: and
    (2) give us permission to produce a copy of the music.

to keep in mind...

We are focusing on ministry, not merchandise - please don't focus on composing a best seller! Instead, aim to write a song that the people of God can sing together as an expression of their worship - if the song becomes a best seller then great but this is not our starting point. We are looking for worship songs which can be used at congregational level, not songs geared towards solo performance. Your song must be sing-able and pass the old grey whistle test (i.e. could the postman whistle it?!). There is no guarantee that your song will be used on the worship resource tape. Your song owner/copyright rights will not be violated.

where to send your song...

Send your song (and music if possible) to the WDT
(Please note: CDs/Tapes will only be returned if you include a SAE.)
